Basal-type breast cancers are characterized by gene expression of the basal/myoepithelial cells of origin. Basal-type cancers are highly sensitive to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (Whitworth et al., JCO, 2022). While triple-negative breast cancers are associated with Basal-type biology, ER+PR+HER2- breast cancers can present with Basal-type biology, even certain cancers with up to 99% ER expression (Groenindijk et al., 2019). A Basal-Type BluePrint result reflects the functional tumor biology, not just receptor status. Read more here about basal-type breast cancers.
